Jacob Ackroyd

2026 Finalist – Fantastic Fundraiser

“Helping others is the best feeling in the world.”

Their Story

Jacob Ackroyd is a warm, positive, and engaging 20-year-old whose outlook on life inspires everyone he meets. He first attended The Movement Centre at the age of four, taking part in a year-long therapy programme that supported his development. While Jacob has cerebral palsy, his condition has never defined his spirit, and his infectious enthusiasm lights up every room he enters.

The Achievement

Jacob has remained a dedicated supporter and ambassador for The Movement Centre over many years. On his 18th birthday, he selflessly donated all of his birthday money—£400—to support the charity’s work. In 2024, Jacob and his father spoke at the charity’s first-ever Gala Ball, where Jacob proudly shared his journey and the impact the therapy had on his life. In early 2025, Jacob took on the challenge of climbing Snowdon. Although technical issues meant the team could not reach the summit, Jacob’s determination and positivity never faltered, and together the team raised an incredible £7,225, with Jacob personally raising £2,995.

The Impact

Jacob’s resilience, generosity, and uplifting nature have made a lasting impact on everyone connected to The Movement Centre. Through his advocacy, fundraising, and unwavering positivity, he continues to inspire others, showing that determination, teamwork, and kindness can turn any challenge into a meaningful and empowering experience.
